Please drop in on Friday evening for an informal welcome drink at the Oxford Union, the world's most prestigious debating society.
On arrival you will receive a welcome glass of sparkling wine and then be free to explore the further offerings of the excellent bar.
You will be able to take an informal tour, hosted by former leading lights at the Union. The tour will include: the iconic Debating Chamber, where
Prime Ministers such as Gladstone, Salisbury, Macmillan and Heath, other UK politicians like Michael Foot and Michael Heseltine, have learnt their trade; and the Old Library, adorned
by murals of Arthurian legend, painted by the greatest Pre-Raphaelite artists including Dante Gabriel Rosetti, Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris.
This will be a drop-in drinks reception, rather than a meal. For dinner, we suggest a visit to one of Oxford's many pubs. Though by no means a
definitive guide, this guide insidersoxford.com/best-oxford-pubs/ details many
of the best and most iconic hostelries (all of which will claim: "Inspector Morse drank here").
Time: Please drop in at any time 5:30pm to 8pm for a pre-dinner drink.
Price: £18 per person
